Job categories
Manage the Sector, Organization Hierarchy and Product categories, and find any category by name.
Last updated: 1 October 2026
Job categories describe what a vacancy, a position or a candidate is about. They come in three groups, each with two levels:
| Group | Top level | Second level |
|---|---|---|
| Sector | Industries | Sub-Industries |
| Organization Hierarchy | Departments | Sub-Departments |
| Product | Products | Sub-Products |
They appear in filters as Category Tags, grouped the same way.
Find a category
Select Job Categories in the sidebar. Each of the six levels has its own column, listed in alphabetical order.
- The count at the top of a column is how many categories that level has. While you search, it shows matches out of the total, such as 10/250.
- Search with the box above the columns. It searches every category by name, not only the ones on screen.
- Load more at the bottom of a column shows the next 100.
Add, rename or delete a category
- Add — use Add at the bottom of a column. A second-level category (a Sub-Industry, Sub-Department or Sub-Product) must belong to at least one parent: pick it in the Parent field, which searches every category of the parent level by name.
- Rename — hover over a category and select the pencil.
- Delete — hover over a category and select the bin. The dialog lists what the delete takes with it before you confirm: its sub-categories, and the vacancies, candidates, positions, questions and report templates tagged with it.
Link a category to a parent
Select a second-level category to open its panel. Parent nodes lists the parents it belongs to; select the cross beside one to unlink it. Under Link a parent, search for a parent by name and select Link parent. The list updates as soon as the link is saved.
A second-level category can belong to more than one parent. In the Category Tags filters it then appears under each of them.
